Session Plan

If you are someone who is having problems shooting right now don't worry. If you work on your craft you will be able to improve your shot in no time. You just have to stay focused, here's a few tips that could help you get over the hump. 1. Jump Rope: By using a jump rope everyday you will improve your rhythm, consistency, strength, mobility, stamina and vertical leaping ability, along with a number of other things that could improve as well. Take a second to think when you are jumping rope you are jumping and swinging your arms. When you put together to facts such as muscle memory and conditioning this is something you should add to your daily workout plan, it's going to make you better when it's time to play at a high level. 2. Work on Improving your rotation: If you want to get a good arc on your shot it’s going to take some work. You must not be afraid to miss out on the world around because you will need to spend hours building this part of your game. It’s so important even if that means staying after or before practice putting in work controlling your shot by getting directly in front of the rim, almost under the rim so when you take your shot you will have no choice but to snap your wrist on the shot. When you flick your wrist hopefully you are holding the ball with your fingers and not letting it rest on your hand. If you can consistently add these steps to your practice it will begin to show on the court, even your bad shots might bounce around on the rim and go in. 3. Practice Aiming your shooting elbow at the rim: numerous underdeveloped shooters push the instead of shooting the basketball the correct way. Focus on keeping your shooting elbow on the inside and aiming at the center of the rim no matter what you do after you take a shot. ensure that use your elbow as your second guide to the basket, we should all know what the first guide is. Andrew Ashwood 12yr Working on Perfecting the correct shooting form 4. Work on squaring your feet up to the basket. Most great shooters square up to the basket when it’s time to shoot the ball. It's a good idea to have your feet shoulder width apart with your toes pointed at the rim. With your toes get a very firm stance on the court, make sure your heels are off the ground. Point your shooting elbow at the rim 5. Free Throws: Anytime you are inside a gym or on the basketball court you should get some free throws up. By doing this you put yourself in position to improve your focus and you give your body a chance to put the ball inside of the rim. If you use the proper form while shooting free throws you will understand that you make your free throws by doing everything the right way. When you step to the line you much make sure your shoulders and feet are squared up to the rim. When you shoot the free throw your body is rhythm with your mind. Once they start dropping you should be able to give yourself enough confidence to understand that the following threw and being lined up to the basket is so vital when it comes to being a %80 percent shooter when you are wide open. 6. Squat into your jump shots: I know this seems extra but if you want to perfect your jumper you are going to have to think outside the box. Get use to exaggeration drills because that will help you adapt to your normal shooting motion and it can put you in a better situation mentally. One of the main tips is to keep your back straight while you squat down and when you shoot make sure you have a high release. 7. Consistency: If you put the work in on a everyday basis before you know it the trust will come from within, to even get to that part of your life you have to understand your body and how it reacts to your mind. If you have confidence in everything you worked on then you are going to be successful sooner or later. You must understand that you are putting in work for a reason so you can’t slack or cheat yourself.
