Athletics Highlights
One of the more notable contributors to poor shooting mechanics in young developing players is using incorrect ball size/weight and rim height. Many young players begin shooting with balls that are heavier than what their muscles can support. At the same time, they are required to shoot on fixed “10 Foot” regulation goals, when adjustable baskets with lowered heights may be more appropriate. We created the guidelines below to support younger players in their desire to become better shooters. Use of these guidelines may vary depending on the strength and height of the player, so consideration of the individual’s ability should be applied on a case by case basis.
